May 17th, 2003 -  LAFA / South Florida Fun Flyers Fly-out.

Our May 24th fly-out was cancelled this month so LAFA could join Chapter 71's (Florida Fun Flyer's) Opa Locka West (X46)  fly-out event.

As usual, our Florida Fun Flyer friends put on a great show.  There was good food, flying competitions, raffles with great prizes, and a terrific turnout (about 30 planes showed up).

Whenever the wind comes out of the south, landings on Opa Locka West's 9/27 runway can get quite exciting thanks to the rotors off the tall trees that line the runway.  This makes Opa Locka West a great aviation "spectator sport" location, but this Saturday the winds were fairly calm.  This made it a better day for the pilots than the spectators.  The weather was close to perfect and the flying was great!

LAFA thanks John Hovan, Andy Corsetti and the rest of the Florida Fun Flyer team of organizers and volunteers for an enjoyable event.  We also invite you to come to LAFA's July Air fair at X51 on the week-end of July 5th and 6th.
